The Pharmaceutical Track & Trace System (ITS) is a national system operated by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TITCK) in which every pharmaceutical package in the country is tracked by a DataMatrix code. From the moment a package is produced until it reaches the patient -- manufacturer, wholesaler, pharmacy, hospital -- every handover is reported to the system. This makes critical situations such as counterfeit medicine, parallel imports, and recalls immediately controllable.
Every party in the pharmaceutical supply chain -- wholesaler, pharmacy, manufacturer, hospital -- is required to operate ITS-integrated software. That software must run barcode/DataMatrix scanning, batch and expiry tracking, reporting to ITS web services, and E-Invoice and E-Prescription flows without interruption. A single day of downtime can mean a regulatory violation or an SGK deduction.
